Tapiola Parish Model Railway Club

We have presently only four corner modules: two 600 x 600 mm (R472 mm) and two 900 x 900 mm (R529 mm). We have need to scrap the tightest ones, as the radius below 500 mm is too tight for some locos. We are to build more 900 x 900 mm corners and have plans of making 600 x 900 corners, that would still have radius of at least 500 mm. (Here we'll need to break the rule of 10 cm staright line at the end of the module and possibly fiddle with the transition curves too.)

We are also in search of more transportable corner module. This module is made of two sections, thus it may be transported in our "stacks".

The corner modules have Roco set track sections in the middle and flexible track (Peco) for transition curves. This way we don't have to bend the tightest curve from flex.

This shows the way the module's internal joint is made: rails are butt ended and alignment is carried out with brass pins

This is the special corner we made to fit the layout into clubroom. It's a 600 x 900 mm (2 x 3 ft) module, that allows us to use larger radius than would be possible with 600 x 600 mm (2 x 2 ft) module as the track sweeps closer to the 900 mm (3 ft) outer edge. OK: we have a S-curve, but that is not so tight and there is no straight section at the 600 mm (2 ft) leg of the corner
