Plank/Flap
We have esp. in exhibitions noticed that it would be nice to get inside a loop form layout without acrobatic skills. Hence we started to make a removable section, a plank or a flap, that could be rised or removed to provide access inside the layout. As the old modular layout is now intended to be kept erected at the cloub we need to use the inside of the loop as a storage room. as we have those wheeled cages and platforms under the piles of plastic removal containers it would be fun to just rise/remove a section of the layout and wheel the goods in.

Also some of our club members are about to build a home layout that has a planned tracks across the doorway this system can be used as a test bed for future ideas at home!

The flap or plank (plywood, 9mm, 1/3 in) is aligned with brass pins going through brass inserts. the pin is high enough to prevent lowering the bridge so as to harm the rail ends if it is not totally aligned. The design of the drawing would not have provided this protection.

here is a bridge "pillar". Pillar at the other end is assembled withoit glue so we'll later modify it to act as a hinge point.

The project is not yet finished, we have not laid any rails nor done any mechanical or electrical locking of the removable section yet.
